Daytona Beach, FL-Daytona Beach police have charged a 44-year-old Holly Hill man with stealing a police cruiser that was left running at the scene of an investigation of a possible robbery in progress. The cruiser was outside Liquor Discount Hut at 727 North Atlantic Avenue just after 9 pm Wednesday night when it was taken. A witness told police he saw a black male wearing flip-flops get into the vehicle and drive away. Police followed with lights and sirens activated. The vehicle stopped at Euclid and North Atlantic. That's where Eric Sirmans was taken into custody. Police say there was about $1500 in damage done to the vehicle. Police found a fresh dent in the rear driver side door and say Sirmans apologized after he pulled over. Sirmans is charged with three felony counts and held on no bond. No police officers were hurt. Police say the suspect was on pre-trial release in another case at the time of his arrest.
