Hit & Run Driver Leaves Injured Man In The Middle Of The Road In Holly Hill

Holly Hill, FLUpdate: Police have identified the victim in Tuesday night's hit and run in Holly Hill as Anees Niazi, 27, who was born in Pakistan.

Police in Holly Hill are looking for the hit and run driver that left an injured man laying in the middle of the road on Tuesday night.

Officers went to the intersection of Walker St. and N. Nova Rd. at around 11 PM where they found a man laying in the middle of the road with a head laceration and road rash all over his body. Investigators say the man, who works at the Sunoco at 1705 N. Nova Rd., had just left work and was driving his moped north when he was hit by an unknown vehicle.

Police believe the scooter he was riding was dragged by the suspect vehicle to Holly Point Apartments where it was found. The victim was found in front of Higgs Auto Paint, about .4 miles from where his moped was found.

EVAC and Volusia County Fire Rescue joined HHPD officers at the scene. The victim was brought to Halifax Health Medical Center as a trauma alert, where he's now listed in stable condition.

Police say more information will be released when it becomes available and the identity of the victim will be released once next-of-kin has been notified.
