Deland, FL - A historic home in Deland sustained heavy damage during a fire on Monday night. The Deland Fire Department responded to the blaze at the Grant Bly House on New York Avenue at about 11:40 p.m. on Monday (October 1st).
When crews arrived, a man was on the roof of a structure adjacent to the house. The man told authorities he woke up to the house on fire. An incident report shows that he was contracted to stay on the property. The man was transported to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford. The house was under construction to be renovated for its latest incarnation as a sports bar.
