Hammer Killer Suspect Granted Continuance During Pretrial Hearing

  Judge Male Daytona Beach, FL- Arenthius Jenkins, who is charged with second-degree murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of aggravated battery, was in court for a pre-trial hearing today. His defense attorney waived speedy trial and asked for a continuance, which was granted. The next hearing is September 12. Jenkins is accused of killing Billy Ford and severely injuring Terry Gross by beating them both with hammers. The attacks took place on April 22 at a home in Daytona Beach where the men were working. Jenkins family says he has a history of mental illness.
