Daytona Beach Shores, FL - A 9-year-old girl from Ohio likely gave an 18-year-old driver a good scare Wednesday afternoon.

Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue Captain Tammy Malphurs said the incident happened a little after 2 P.M., just south of the Dunlawton Avenue access ramp in Daytona Beach Shores.

According to Malphurs, the girl ran into the front side of the vehicle, bounced off it and ran away. Because the driver was on the sand, he was traveling slowly.

Malphurs said the driver is not expected to be charged with any violations. The child was checked out and was found to have only minor injuries. She's expected to be OK.
