Daytona Beach, FL-Gas prices at the pump are moving higher after flirting with the $2 average mark in the Daytona Beach area. AAA Florida says the average price for a gallon of self-serve unleaded regular in the Daytona Beach area rose three cents in the past week. It's now $2.07. Statewide the average for that same gallon of gas is $2.10.
Still, it's much better than a year ago when that same gallon of gas in the Daytona Beach area averaged $2.37.
"Gas prices are likely to get more expensive through the rest of the week as retail prices adjust to the oil price hike," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA - The Auto Club Group. "The weekly average for oil rose about $4 which could translate to a 10 cent hike at the pump. It usually takes a couple of weeks for retail prices to fully adjust to the oil price shift. Although oil prices will continue to influence prices at the pump, AAA forecasts that retail prices should remain relatively low through the rest of the year."
