Daytona Beach, FL-The news that a pipeline that serves the East Coast was up and running again has pushed gas prices at the pump lower according to new data from AAA. That pipeline doesn't serve Florida consumers, but it still impacts prices which AAA says are lower here now than at the same time a year ago. AAA says a gallon of self-serve regular unleaded  here was $2.14 on average. A year ago that same gallon of gas averaged $2.15. A week ago the average price for that gallon of gas was $2.19 and a month ago it was $2.27. “Gas prices are falling because of low demand and oil prices, but also improvements in gasoline supplies,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Florida cities remain well supplied and it appears the southeastern states that took a hit from the Colonial Pipeline outage a couple weeks ago have fully recovered since the restart. Gas prices should move another nickel lower this week unless there are unexpected disruptions in supply or spikes in oil prices.” The national average for that same gallon of gas Sunday was $2.17. 2016 Southern Stone Communications Copyright
