Daytona Beach, FL - A Daytona Beach police officer diagnosed with Stage III Cancer on April 30 is undergoing aggressive treatment, which according to Daytona Beach Chief of Police Craig Capri, has forced Officer Nick Gurucharri to cut back his work hours.

Capri said that since the diagnosis, Officer Gurucharri's income level has fallen. The DBPD, along with Planet Smoothie, is holding a fundraiser Wednesday (June 5) at the International Speedway Boulevard and Thames Avenue location.

Capri said that he's hoping people will come out on Wednesday anytime between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. 20 percent of all sales will go to Officer Gurucharri and his family.

Raffle tickets will be sold with 100 percent of the money going to the family. Many of the prizes available are restaurant gift cards but there's also a one year membership to Volusia Gun Club and passes for Hangar 15 and Golds Gym.

If you can't make it to Planet Smoothie, you can still help out. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Officer Gurucharri out.
