Port Orange, FL-A Port Orange police officer was hurt Thursday when a fleeing sex offender ran over his foot with a vehicle. Police officials say it happened around 3 PM when officers were trying to arrest registered sex offender 26-year-old Phillip Heidt at 110 Greenbriar Avenue. He's a suspect in a sex offense earlier this week  at the WalMart on Dunlawton Avenue when he allegedly exposed himself to an 11-year-old girl inside the store. When officers tried to arrest him, he tried to leave in a vehicle and ran over the officer's foot. Heidt left the vehicle and ran into the woods near Village Trail and Country Lane.  Officers found him after a search using K-9 and Air One. Heidt is charged with counts including fleeing and eluding and resisting an officer without violence. Heidt is held at the county branch jail on no bond.
