Flagler To Discuss Vacation Rentals At Legislative Meeting & Special Workshop

Posted

Flagler County, FL – In addition to covering it at their upcoming Legislative Delegation Meeting, Flagler County officials will further discuss vacation rentals at a special workshop in November.

From 4 PM to 6 PM on Friday, October 20, the Legislative Delegation Meeting will be held at the City of Palm Coast Council Chambers located at 160 Lake Ave. in Palm Coast. The meeting will be led by Senator Travis Hutson and Representative Paul Renner.

For this meeting, the priorities are discussing hiring another County Judge to help cover the lone Flagler County Judge’s caseload, supporting “home rule,” which permits the County to provide most public services, and continuing the 2014 short-term vacation rental rule that allows municipalities to regulate everything except duration, frequency, and bans.

The “Legislative Funding Requests” include funding a $5 million dune restoration project, a $500,000 Public Library Construction Grant Program that was previously cut from funding, and a $1.5 million MalaCompra Water Quality Enhancement Project.

“Because this meeting is limited to two hours, speakers typically only have a few minutes,” said Craig Coffey, Flagler County Administrator. “This is an important topic in Flagler County, and the commission with our legislative delegation will be able to devote an entire workshop to just this one item.”

The short-term vacation rentals special workshop meeting is set to be held on November 20 at 1 PM in Building 3 of the Emergency Operations Center located at 1769 E. Moody Boulevard in Bunnell. More information will be released closer to the meeting date.

“I think there are a lot of people who are going to want to speak,” said Greg Hansen, Flagler County Commissioner. “I think the upcoming workshop will be a better place for residents to have their say.”
