Flagler County Requests That FEMA Open A Disaster Recovery Center In Flagler

Posted

Flagler County, FL - Flagler County is requesting that FEMA open up a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Flagler County, since currently, the closest DRC is located in St. Johns County, according to County officials.

Until Flagler can get a DRC of its own, residents are being asked to use the closest center, located at the University of Florida’s Wind Mitigation “Hurricane House,” 3111 Agricultural Center Dr. in St. Augustine, until further notice. "Hurricane House" is open from 8 AM until 8 PM every day.

Any resident impacted by Hurricane Irma should complete the FEMA and the Small Business Administration (SBA) assistance applications. Also, anyone who has gotten a letter declining assistance should visit a DRC to work with the FEMA staff there to file an appeal. Flagler officials say residents needing assistance should be persistent because the reason for being declined might be as simple as a missing piece of information. You should not throw any FEMA letters away.

You can complete FEMA and SBA applications at a DRC or from any computer at your home or library. The applications can be found online at https://www.disasterassistance.gov/ and https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/ respectively.
