Flagler County Jail Goes Into Lockdown After Natural Gas Leak

Flagler County, FL - The Flagler County detention facility went into lockdown on Tuesday morning after a natural gas leak was reported.

The inmates had to stay in lockdown for about two hours on March 14 while the leak was investigated.

Firefighters, the gas supplier company, and the equipment manufacturer responded to the jail to investigate the leak. They found that it came from the jail's water heater system.

Luckily no injuries were reported.

"I'm grateful that nobody was injured and that this incident occurred in an area that's removed from the general inmate population," Sheriff Rick Staly said.
