Flagler County, FL-Residents of Flagler County got some good practice for the next tropical system when Tropical Storm Colin blew through this week. Flagler County Public Safety Emergency Manager Steve Garten said they saw some flooding but nothing out of the ordinary. Garten said upon further investigation, the drainage fields have done what they are designed to do; hold water. Tropical Storm Colin blew through Flagler County with winds reaching 44 mph and dropping as much as 5.5 inches of rain in portions of Palm Coast. Flagler County also had practice for their storm spotters. A couple of them saw wall clouds with rotation. A wall cloud is a large, localized cloud that develops beneath the surrounding base of cumulonimbus clouds and sometimes forms a tornado. The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning at 4:57 p.m. Monday. Garten said the CodeRED weather alert system notified 8,794 registrants by phone, as well as 945 by email and 1,554 by text message. To sign up for CodeRED weather warning notifications click here.
