Flagler Beach, FL-Flagler Beach Police Chief Captain Matt Doughney is quick to credit his officers with the overall 23% drop in crime last year in the beach town where 4700 people live year round.

Asked what worked, Doughney says talking to residents about doing simple things like closing and locking garage doors is part of it. Another key, Doughney says, is making sure residents see police officers on patrol and know they can and should tell police about anything that seems even a little "off". Doughney says, "If you see something, say something."

Doughney has been police chief in Flagler Beach since 2013.
