Posted
One Daytona Cobb Theater 052716 Daytona Beach, FL-The Daytona Beach Fire Department is reporting that a fire at the construction site of the Cobb Theater at One Daytona this morning started when some roofing insulation caught fire from welding activities. There were 55 construction workers on site when the fire started with 25 of those construction workers on the roof. Fire extinguishers were available on the roof. They attempted to put out the fire but due to winds of about 14 mph and the elevated height of the fire location, they were unable to put out the fire. None of the workers were injured. Daytona Beach Fire Department had to set up their tower truck to have an aerial water supply hitting the roof. The fire was reported around 11:25 A.M. today.  The extent of the damage is unknown at this time. Approximately 300 square feet of the roof was affected by the fire. The structure will have to be inspected by a structural engineer for damage assessment. The International Speedway Corporation does not expect this incident to set them back on construction deadlines. One Daytona Cobb Theater 052716 2
