Port Orange, FL-A dispute over a relationship and child custody ended in the murder of a mother of two early today according to Port Orange police. The discovery of the body of 24-year-old Justine Clawson was made around 1:13 AM at an apartment at Victoria Gardens. She was dead of apparent gunshots. A suspect is in custody. The discovery came after a car crash in Ormond Beach around 11:30 PM Friday night when 35-year-old Jamal Kareem Davis told first responders at the scene that he had left his two small children at an unknown shopping center nearby. The 1 and 2-year-old children were found at 487 Nova Road. Police then tried to contact the mother of the children, Justine Clawson, and could not reach her. They next contacted Clawson's father who said he would pick her up and come get the children. Her father discovered her body. Davis, in an interview with police in Port Orange, said he and Clawson had argued about their relationship and child custody issues when the argument got physical and he shot her at least two times. He told police he had driven his car into a tree in an attempt to kill himself. Davis has been charged with first-degree murder. The children are with DCF. Davis is held on no bond.
