Volusia County, FL-FHP is warning about a scam making the round where you're contacted by email about a ticket and warned to pay up. Troopers say don't fall for it.
The scam begins with an email sent from the very official "Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles" and warns that you've got a red light citation. It then warns that if you're late you'll be charged $50 a day. Troopers say no contact is made for tickets via email.
It may also contain an internet link for payment. Don't click on that as it can potentially infect your computer with viruses or malware.
