Palm Coast, FL - The Florida Department of Transportation will shut down some northbound lanes of I-95 tonight in both Flagler and Brevard counties.
Spokesperson Steve Olson said that closures will take place near the Old Kings Road overpass north of the City of Palm Coast in Flagler County. In Brevard County, the closure will happen near the Ellis Road interchange construction project near the City of Melbourne.
Olson said the reason for the closures is to expand the left hand shoulder in these areas, which could aid in a northbound emergency evacuation—if emergency shoulder use becomes necessary.
The work is expected to continue overnight and into the early morning. FDOT urges drivers to drive carefully and pay attention in construction zones.
