FDOT Open House On Oakridge Blvd. Proposed Improvements

Daytona Beach, FL - The Florida Department of Transportation is asking for public feedback on proposed improvements to Oakridge Boulevard from the east side of the Halifax River to A-1-A. FDOT spokesperson Jessica Ottaviano said the project is still in the design stage and that the open house later this afternoon will provide information on the proposed changes.

A main goal of the proposed project is to make it accessible for all modes of transportation. Ottaviano says that means that lanes could be reduced from three to two, leaving room to add a 7-foot-wide buffered bike lane. Another improvement would be to mill and resurface the existing pavement.

Per the FDOT website, cflroads.com, the estimated cost for construction is $750,000.

Ottaviano said the attendees will review the project display information and be able to have one-on-one conversations with FDOT personnel. There will also be a presentation video to show what the proposed enhancements will look like. The open house is being held at the Peabody Auditorium in the Rose Room this afternoon, from 5 until 7 p.m.
