Palm Coast, FL – The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office wraps up their part of a statewide 4th of July safety operation.

And their operation, known as Operation “Knot Lit,” ended with a grand total of 1,699 calls for service.

The main goal of the operation was to increase FCSO’s countywide presence while stepping up speed and DUI enforcement throughout Flagler.

FCSO’s Marine Unit also stepped up patrols in the intracoastal waterways throughout the county in a joint effort with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission to promote boater safety and deter boating under the influence.

Four vessel stops were carried out, but no arrests came from them as a result.

“Our deputies were busy during ‘Operation Knot Lit’ this 4th of July week,” Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Seven offenders got a free ride to the Green Roof Inn for driving drunk. Thankfully, the majority of our residents and visitors enjoyed a safe holiday and kept their freedom.”

There were also no traffic fatalities during the course of the operation, according to FCSO.
