Flagler County, FL- The FCSO reports that they received at least eight reports recently of vehicle burglaries in the "L" section of Palm Coast. Public Information Officer Laura Williams said the break-ins took place Sunday night, August 14 through early Monday morning.
Williams said a big reason for that many break-ins is that people are not careful and leave their vehicles unlocked overnight in their driveway. She said that about 99 percent of the vehicles broken into are unlocked. Sometimes the thieves find a spare set of keys in the unlocked vehicle and come back and steal the car.
The valuables stolen include two handguns. Williams said that is a real problem because it puts guns in the hand of the bad guy.
The Sheriff's Office reminds you that preventing vehicle break-ins is easy. Most important is locking your vehicle and removing spare keys. Also, don't leave valuables in your vehicle or at least hide them or lock them in the trunk.
If your vehicle is burglarized, report it to law enforcement right away and do your best not to touch or move anything in the crime scene. Collecting evidence is key to solving these crimes.
