Bunnell, FL - The Flagler County Sheriff's Office will be joining the Florida Sheriff's Association's statewide Independence Day task force.

A task force specially created just for road and waterway safety during the Fourth of July weekend.

It's all part of an operation known as Operation "Knot Lit," and primarily focuses on having an increased countywide presence and DUI enforcement in their cities.

FCSO's famed Taxi-Patrol car will also be visible in various locations.

Additionally, the FCSO Marine unit will be patrolling the intracoastal waterway in order to promote boater safety and deter boating under the influence (BUI)

"The safety of our residents and visitors is what matters most," said Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly. "We want everyone to enjoy the holiday safely."

Staly also warned that anyone who plans on drinking and driving will get a free "taxi ride" to the "Green Roof Inn."

"We can't be everywhere, so let's work together to make our roads safer for everyone," added Staly.

The operation will run between July 3rd and 7th.
