Bunnell, FL - A 27-year-old man with an active felony warrant was apprehended with the help of a Flager County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit after he gave deputies a false name and ran into the woods in Bunnell on Wednesday afternoon. The suspect is known to deputies as Nathan Michael Ballance, and his active felony warrant was for robbery. He was approached by a deputy, who thought he looked suspicious, on Old Haw Creek Rd. at around 3:48 PM on Wednesday. After he took off into the woods, deputies established a perimeter with help from the Flagler County FireFlight Emergency Helicopter and K-9 Deputy Tag. K-9 Tag apprehended Ballance in the woods and the 27-year-old was taken into custody. “Our team did a great job checking up on a suspicious person,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “In this case, our K-9 was able to take a bite out of crime and there is one less vacancy at the Green Roof Inn.” Ballance was brought to Florida Hospital Flagler to have his dog bite treated, then he was taken to the Flagler County Detention Facility on charges of failure to appear on a felony offense, resisting arrest without violence, and giving a false name. He's being held without bond.
