Daytona Beach, FL – A 35-year-old father of two young children faces child neglect charges for leaving the children, ages 5 years and 20 months, alone in a hotel room.

Daytona Beach Police were called to the Hilton Hotel this past Saturday (Jan. 13) after a housekeeper found the children alone in a room on the ninth floor. No adults were present and the door to the balcony was open so she reported to the hotel’s security and stayed with the children until police arrived. As officers were arriving, so did the father, 35-year-old Christopher Anderson, carrying bags of food.

According to officers, it seemed that Anderson did not have an issue with leaving the children unsupervised in a hotel room. Anderson told officers what restaurant he went to. Video from the restaurant would indicate that the children were alone for at least 21 minutes.

TAG: Anderson was arrested and the children were turned over to their mother, who had been at work. Officers noted that the children appeared to be well taken but due to the children being left alone, the issue has been referred to the Department of Children and Family Services..
