Daytona Beach, FL - A 57-year-old man is dead after a fatal accident on Ridgewood Avenue at Shady Place yesterday (September 20) evening.
Daytona Beach Police detectives believe that the man, who was driving a 1998 Nissan Altima, tried to turn south on Ridgewood Avenue from westbound Shady Place at about 6:30 p.m. The front of that car hit a Mercedes Benz C320 going northbound on Ridgewood Avenue.
Emergency crews arrived on scene less than 20 minutes later. They declared the driver of the Nissan dead soon after their arrival. The 22-year-old driver of the Mercedes did not report injuries at the time of the accident.
There were no passengers in either vehicle. Investigators believe the Nissan driver failed to yield the right of way to the Mercedes driver. There are no criminal charges pending at this time.
