Fatal Motorcycle Crash In DeLand Leaves 1 Dead And Another In Critical Condition

DeLand, FL - Update: The man who died and the woman who was injured in last night's fatal motorcycle accident have been identified by FHP.

29-year-old Dustin Lanier of Winter Springs was pronounced dead at the scene and 27-year-old Jessica Scruggs of Ormond Beach is being treated at Halifax Medical Center. She's in critical condition.

According to FHP, Lanier was driving the motorcycle when he lost control for an unknown reason and hit the guardrail. Both he and Scruggs were ejected from the bike.

Earlier Reporting:

A deadly motorcycle crash in DeLand late Sunday night left 1 person dead and another injured.

The fatal accident happened on the exit ramp from I-4 to SR-44 and it was reported at around 11 PM.

Officials say 1 died at the scene and the other was airlifted to the hospital.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and weather isn't being ruled out as a possibility.
