Orange City, FL - Troopers are looking for the woman who hit an elderly man on a bicycle with her car and fled the scene this morning in Orange City.

The Florida Highway Patrol says that 72-year-old man is now dead after the incident around 5:15 a.m. on Enterprise Road at the South Volusia Avenue intersection.

FHP Lieutenant Kim Montes says the victim was using a crosswalk to go from the west side of Enterprise to the east when he was struck by a gold or tan Chevrolet Suburban heading north on Enterprise.

"The front of [the Chevy] struck the right rear of [the victim's bicycle," Montes added. "[The victim] was ejected off of [the bicycle] and came to rest in the roadway."

It was at that point when the Chevy driver got out of her car, looked at the victim, got back inside her vehicle and kept on going north on Enterprise, according to Montes.

"The vehicle will have some damage on the front," Montes noted.

The Chevy driver is described as a white woman standing around 5'8 and wearing a white shirt with blue jeans. She's facing a first-degree felony charge just for leaving the scene regardless of whether or not she's at fault, according to Montes.

The victim died at Florida Hospital shortly after paramedics took him there. He's not been identified at this time.

Anyone with information on the driver or the incident is asked to call FHP at 407-737-2213.
