Fair To Benefit Volusia Title I Families Will Soon Be Held At NSB Middle

New Smyrna Beach, FL – Volusia County Schools will host its next regional FACT (Families and Community Together) Fair, which supports Title I families and encourages parental participation in children’s education, in New Smyrna Beach.

The fair is scheduled from 5:30 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, March 1, in the gymnasium at New Smyrna Beach Middle located at 1200 South Myrtle Ave. The event is oriented to specifically support Title 1 families, however, families from all schools are welcome to come. The following schools on the east side of the county are Title 1 schools:

  • Campbell Middle
  • Chisholm Elementary
  • Champion Elementary
  • Edgewater Public
  • Holly Hill School
  • Indian River Elementary
  • Longstreet Elementary
  • Mainland High
  • Ormond Beach Elementary
  • Ortona Elementary
  • Osceola Elementary
  • Palm Terrace Elementary
  • Port Orange Elementary
  • Read-Pattillo Elementary
  • South Daytona Elementary
  • Sugar Mill Elementary
  • Turie T. Small Elementary
  • Westside Elementary

Title I designation through the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) gives schools with high numbers of children from low-income families financial assistance to makes sure children are meeting necessary academic standards. Parents who attend will be given information about free resources regarding health, affordable housing, public safety, voluntary pre-kindergarten, and secondary education provided through Volusia County Schools and community organizations. Free books and food will also be available to attendees. Students will provide entertainment in the auditorium and family activities will be available in the gym.

Parents will be able to get more information on elementary reading, writing, science, technology and math as well as tutoring services, Title I programs, exceptional student education services, mentoring opportunities, graduation requirements, and school technology.

The fair is being sponsored by the Title I Parent & Family Engagement office for Volusia County Schools.
