Daytona Beach, FL - The First Step Shelter Board made a unanimous choice yesterday (October 1) for Victoria Fahlberg of Ormond Beach to be the next Executive Director at the facility. She emerged as the top choice out of the 122 people that applied for the position.

Six finalists were chosen and last week, the Board narrowed that down to three, Fahlberg, Darcell Streeter of Daytona Beach and Shannon Mathis of New Smyrna Beach. Mathis opted to drop out of the selection process, leaving Fahlberg and Streeter to be interviewed during a public meeting.

Board member Chase Tramont said that for him, both Street and Fahlberg were great candidates. After some discussion, it was decided to offer the position to Fahlberg.

Fahlberg's resume shows that she has a strong background in grant writing and fundraising, skills very important to the position.

The next step takes place next week, on Monday, October 7 at 4:15 p.m. Board members are expected to vote on a contract for Fahlberg which will offer $60,000 annually, the same amount paid to the former Executive Director, Mark Geallis, who resigned effective June 30 of this year.
