Edgewater, FL - It's budget time for most municipalities and tonight, the city of Edgewater is expected to approve an increase of 9% for water charges, including the monthly base charge, the usage charge, and the stormwater utility fee. The solid waste service charge for both residential and business will increase by 6%.

The rate fee hikes are the conclusion of a Water, Wastewater, Solid Waste, and Stormwater Utility Rate Study for the city of Edgewater. The study, done by Public Resources Management Group, states that: "The main objective of our analysis was to develop proposed rates that will produce revenues sufficient to meet the projected expenditure requirements of each utility system."

Many Edgewater citizens have posted on social media platforms asking for reasons for the increase. Here's a link to tonight's agenda. The meeting begins at 6 p.m.
