Early Voting Starts Saturday In Volusia & Flagler

Daytona Beach, FL - The next shoe is about to drop as we inch closer to the primary elections later this month.

Early voting begins tomorrow in Volusia and Flagler counties and will run for the next week or so, with Flagler's final early voting day being next Saturday (August 25th) and Volusia's being the day after that (August 26th).

Both counties will end just before Primary Election Day on August 28th.

In Volusia, voters can go to any one of five locations and cast their ballot. They are the City Island Library in Daytona Beach (105 East Magnolia Avenue), Ormond Beach Regional Library (30 South Beach Street), New Smyrna Beach Regional Library (1001 South Dixie Freeway), Deltona Regional Library (2150 Eustace Avenue) and the Volusia County Administration Center in DeLand (123 West Indiana Avenue).

There are three locations in Flagler voters can use. One is the Supervisor of Elections office in Bunnell (1769 East Moody Boulevard, Building 2, Suite 101) and the others are in Palm Coast at the Community Center (305 Palm Coast Parkway NE) and the Public Library (2500 Palm Coast Parkway NW).

Early voting hours are between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day in Volusia, while in Flagler, it's between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day.

Anyone who wants to early vote needs to bring proper photo identification, but those who don't bring it to the polling location can fill out provisional ballots.

Both counties are currently receiving mail-in ballots for the primary, with Flagler reporting 4,140 cast as of yesterday evening. That puts turnout in the county at over 5%.

In Volusia, over 30,000 of the about 82,000 ballots mailed out have already come in, according to Supervisor of Elections Lisa Lewis, and she's expecting more than that for early voters.

"We had a higher turnout for early voting [during the 2016 primaries] than we had in any other method of voting, [including] vote by mail or Election Day," Lewis noted.

More Republicans than Democrats are voting in Volusia at this point based on vote-by-mail ballots already submitted, per Lewis.
