Daytona Beach, FL - A 31-year-old driver from St. Augustine was killed early Monday morning when he crashed into the back of another vehicle on I-95 in Daytona Beach.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man from St. Augustine was heading south in a 2006 Nissan four-door at around 2:45 AM when, for an unknown reason, he failed to slow down and hit the back of the semi-truck in front of him near mile marker 265. The 31-year-old was pronounced dead by the medical examiner. FHP says he was not wearing a seatbelt, and it's not known at this point if alcohol played a factor.

According to FHP, he was driving above the posted speed limit at the time of the crash. The deceased's name won't be released until next of kin have been notified.

The driver of the semi, 56-year-old William Soden of Winter Springs, was not hurt.

The crash is under investigation.
