DeLand, FL - One of the five people hurt in a three-vehicle accident in DeLand has passed away.

The DeLand Police Department says 17-year-old Kevin Mojena of Orange City - the driver of a white 1998 Honda - is the one who died soon after arrival at the hospital, according to a press release sent this morning.

DeLand PD spokesman Chris Graham tells us that Honda was heading south on the 2200 block of South Woodland Boulevard - which is just north of the U.S 17/92 split - when the driver lost control for some reason just after 1 p.m. yesterday.

"[The Honda] crossed the center median of the roadway," Graham added. "In doing so, the vehicle crashed into a blue Honda sport utility vehicle and a red Toyota sport utility vehicle that were traveling north on South Woodland Boulevard."

One of the victims was treated and discharged at the scene, while the others were hospitalized.

Traffic homicide detectives are still actively investigating, per Graham.
