Daytona Beach, FL - 40 Central Florida hospitals, including some in Volusia, will be taking part in a large scale exercise aimed at testing their preparedness with large-scale disasters.

And that exercise will include over 1,500 students acting as victim volunteers and dozens of emergency workers and volunteers.

The Central Florida Disaster Medical Coalition says that they will simulate complex, coordinated terrorist attacks resulting in hundreds of victims who will be made up to simulate injuries.

The goal is to prepare the community, hospitals, medical professionals, emergency response personnel, schools and law enforcement to respond to a catastrophic incident, such as a terrorist attack, if it were to take place in Central Florida.

The exercise will run between 8 a.m. and noon tomorrow (April 10th).
