Orange City, FL - Update: The armed man shot and killed by Deputies and Orange City Police Officers on Sunday night has been identified as 47-year-old Westley Daum. The Volusia County Medical Examiner's Office is scheduled to perform an autopsy on Wednesday to confirm the cause of death. During the shooting, 1 deputy fired bean bag rounds, and 5 deputies and 1 Orange City police officer fired their duty weapons. Earlier Reporting: Deputies and Orange City police officers shot and killed an armed man last night when he pointed a gun at them. The man is only identified now as a 47-year-old Orange City resident. The shooting happened in the 600 block of Lantern Lane just before 11:30 PM. No law enforcement officers were hurt. It all began with a report of a man who had parked his truck in traffic and was pointing a gun at passing motorists in the middle of Volusia Avenue near Graves Avenue. The man was gone when law enforcement got there. The truck was spotted a short time later and he eventually stopped the truck on Lantern Lane. That's where the shooting happened.
