Deltona Man Killed 2, Hurt 5 In Yoga Studio Shooting

Tallahassee, FL - Investigators continue to dig for clues about the Volusia County man who shot up a yoga studio in Tallahassee and killed two women before committing suicide.

The Tallahassee Police Department tells us it's still not clear what led Scott Beierle to enter the business on Friday (November 2nd) posing as a customer when he pulled out his gun without any warning and opened fire.

"Patrons fought the assailant to prevent him from harming themselves and others," stated a TPD release. "The assailant then turned the gun on himself and died on scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound."

The women who died have been identified as 21-year-old Maura Binkley and 61-year-old Nancy Van Vessem.

Four other women and a man were also injured by Beierle at the studio before he turned his gun on himself, per TPD. One was pistol-whipped and the rest were shot.

Volusia County Sheriff's Office deputies were on-hand when a search warrant was served Saturday at Beierle's home in Deltona and more warrants have been issued so that authorities can access his electronic devices and social media accounts.

Detectives think the 40-year-old military veteran was staying at a local hotel and was driving a red 2015 Chevrolet Sonic just before he went on his rampage. That vehicle has since been seized by police, while the room he was staying in has been processed for evidence.

Tallahassee police say Beierle was the subject of at least two service calls where young women claim he harassed them.

"Investigators are still trying to determine his direct connection to the victims and business," stated a TPD release.

Beierle is a graduate of Florida State University, which is located in Tallahassee.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call TPD at 850-891-4200 or Crime Stoppers at 850-574-TIPS to remain anonymous and possibly qualify for a cash reward.
