Deltona, FL - The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is investigating after 4 armed men broke into a man's home in Deltona then beat him and burned him with a metal object before taking off with some stolen items and money.

On Monday night the victim was in his home at 3067 Mapleshade St in bed when he heard a knock on the door at around 11:15. "He went to answer it and when he opened the door he told us that there were 4 masked men outside and they forced their way in," said Andrew Gant, VCSO Public Information Officer. "3 of them had guns and once inside they proceeded to beat him and used some hot metal objects to burn him. They stole some cash and items and left."

Deputies arrived on scene a few minutes after the suspects left to find the victim with lacerations and burn marks on his back and head. He was brought to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City for treatment.

Investigators are working to ID the 4 suspects and they don't believe this was a random break-in. No additional details are available at this time.

Anyone with info should call VCSO at 386-860-7030 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS where you can remain anonymous and qualify for a reward of up to $5,000.
