Deltona Man Arrested For Threats To Kill Ex-Girlfriend

Deltona, FL - A Deltona man who allegedly told his ex-girlfriend he'd "do to her what that guy in Orlando did to his family" is behind bars for the second time in a week.

Ferdinand Thompson's arrest last night for aggravated stalking came after Volusia County Sheriff's Office detectives stationed at the woman's Orange City home spotted him inside a black Chevrolet Cobalt driving by the property. Those detectives then followed the vehicle, pulled it over and made the arrest.

In a Facebook post announcing the 33-year-old's arrest, Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said he thinks the detectives working the case may have saved the woman's life.

"The way our deputies jumped on this case is a testament to the hard work and protection our men and women are committed to providing every person in Volusia County," Chitwood said.

VCSO spokesperson Laura Williams tells us it all started a week ago.

"The victim reported Thompson stole her car and sent her several text messages, including one around 1:20 a.m. that threatened to kill her," Williams noted.

VCSO arrested Thompson two days later, charging him with making a written threat to kill. He was released from Volusia County Jail the following day after posting $1,500 bail and ordered not to reach out to that woman again, according to Williams.

"[The day Thompson left VCJ], the victim contacted the Sheriff’s Office again to report that Thompson called her 13 times from a blocked number," Williams noted. "During one of the calls, Thompson threatened to kill her and another man who had recently been giving her a ride to work."

VCSO believes Thompson may also be responsible for cutting the power steering fluid line to the woman's vehicle, something which was discovered the morning before his latest arrest.

Thompson - who is currently held without bond at VCJ - has been booked at the county jail at least four other times since 2003.
