Deltona, FL - A serial Deltona burglar, who was being surveilled by Volusia County Sheriff’s (VCSO) detectives, was arrested moments after he broke into a Deltona business and stole a TV. Early Monday morning, 46-year-old Miguel Angel Ortiz Morales was arrested shortly after he shattered the front glass door of Advanced Women’s Health Specialists, located at 1565 Saxon Blvd. in Deltona, and stole a large TV from the wall. For a period of nearly 24 hours prior to the incident, Morales was under the surveillance of two VCSO detectives while he scoped out neighborhoods and businesses. According to the VCSO, a plainclothes detective, who had been on Morales’ case, heard the glass shattering and saw Morales’ car driving from the scene. The detective also noticed that the TV in the waiting area had been removed from the wall. The other detective following Morales stopped him in his car just down the road. The detective found a large TV in the backseat next to a tire iron. Morales was subsequently charged with burglary, grand theft, possession of burglary tools, and criminal mischief. He was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail where he violated an injunction for protection against domestic violence by calling the petitioner, earning himself an additional charge. The VCSO believes Morales may be responsible for at least three other residential and commercial burglaries in the area. As the investigation continues into those cases, additional charges may be brought against Morales.
