DeLand Will Host Annual Tree Giveaway For Residents

DeLand, FL - If you are looking for a new tree to spruce up your property, the City of DeLand is holding its annual Tree Giveaway on April 21. The City of DeLand and DeLand Breakfast Rotary Club will host the Tree Giveaway on Saturday at 8 AM at the DeLand Public Works Complex at 1102 S. Garfield Ave. Residents within the city’s Utility Service Area will be able to pick up the trees by entering from Amelia Ave. Signs will direct residents to the giveaway area. This is one of the city's largest annual events. DeLand officials remind those wanting to pick up trees to bring proof of residence. If you are picking up a tree for someone else, please bring the person's written request and their proof of residence. Residents may pick up to four trees per residence, as opposed to three in previous years. There is a limit of eight trees per vehicle. Some of the species of trees that will be available include Bald Cypress, Blue Beech, Chickasaw Plum, Chinquapin, Elderberry, Live Oak, Parsley Haw, Redbud, Snowbell, Sweetgum, Tabebuia (Yellow), and Winged Elm.
