DeLand, FL-Volusia County residents are encouraged to attend a town hall meeting Tuesday evening to share their health concerns. The City of DeLand is teaming up with the Florida Department of Health for the meeting.

Health Department PIO Holly Smith said the meeting is for information gathering. Smith also said this meeting is not to educate the public, it's a place for health officials to listen. The idea is to create a health improvement plan specifically for DeLand.

Smith said that there are as many as 100 different agencies involved in this venture, including state and local agencies and not-for-profits involved in the health issues of the community.

The Community Health Town Hall meeting will be from 6-8 p.m. at Sanborn Center, 815 S. Alabama Ave. Two other meetings are scheduled in June, one in New Smyrna Beach at the Alonso Bay James Community Center on June 21 and another in Daytona Beach at the Mid-town Cultural & Education Center on June 23. Both meetings begin at 6 P.M.
