DeLand Man Involved In Fiery Crash That Left Motorcyclist Dead In Pine Hills

Pine Hills, FL – A DeLand man was involved in a fiery crash in Pine Hills, FL that left a motorcyclist dead on Monday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), 46-year-old Rufus Hill, of DeLand, was traveling westbound on Silver Star Rd. in Pine Hills, Orange County, at around 3:20 AM on Monday. Hill was driving a 1998 Ford pickup truck, and he made a left turn to travel south onto Coastline Dr.

A motorcyclist was driving eastbound on Silver Star Rd., and the front of the motorcycle struck the right side of the pickup truck. The motorcycle became completely engulfed in flames, and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead by the Medical Examiner’s office, according to FHP.

Troopers have not yet identified the motorcyclist, and the crash remains under investigation.
