Missing Dog Found After DeLand Carjacking Ends In Fiery Crash

DeLand, FL-Update: The dog missing from the scene of a fiery accident after a carjacking has been found. She has been reunited with her family.  Earlier reporting follows: A carjacking near DeLand today ended in a fiery rollover crash with a suspect in custody. The carjacking happened on Blue Lake Avenue at SR 44 where a woman was stopped at a red light around 7:15 AM. She said a suspect got into the passenger side of her Ford Expedition. She got out and the suspect moved over and drove off with the vehicle. Her dog was inside. The vehicle ended up in a rollover crash and was engulfed in flames a short time later at McGregor Road and Duncan Trace. Passersby pulled the man from the vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody there. VCSO says the suspect, 18-year-old Andre Pomerleau of Deltona, is at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford in critical condition. The dog, a Golden Retriever named Kenzie, is reportedly missing.
