DBPD: Two Men Shot During Fight Outside Nightclub

Posted

Daytona Beach, FL - It seems the Daytona Beach Police Department has an idea of who to look for in the shooting of two men outside a beachside nightclub overnight.

Those men - a 32-year-old white man from Edgewater and a 23-year-old black man from Port Orange - are out of surgery at Halifax Health Medical Center, hours after the shooting near Razzle's on Seabreeze Boulevard near State Road A1A.

Officers were called to the scene around 1:40 this morning, finding both men wounded and on the ground on the 500 block of North Grandview Avenue, according to the incident report.

"Upon investigation, officers learned that at least two males were involved in an argument that then turned physical," said DBPD spokesperson Lyda Longa. "No one has been arrested in this incident and it remains under investigation."

Two witnesses told police the men who were shot apparently got into some kind of fistfight with each other in front of the nearby Oyster Pub just before shots were fired. One of them says around five more people joined the fight soon after it started, while the other claims he saw the shooter - someone he knows personally - pull out a gun and shoot both men before fleeing the scene.

Who that shooter is isn't clear in the report since it was redacted, but it does show that police think the shooter is a 25-year-old white male with addresses in Daytona Beach and Port Orange. The witness who says he saw the shooter made a positive ID from a photo lineup provided by DBPD, per the report.

DBPD is also searching for a 2016 white Kia Optima in connection to the shooting, with a Florida tag of HSF C98.

It's not clear at this point what the fight was about or what kind of gun was used.
