DBPD: Man Found Shot Near Pizzeria

UPDATE: DBPD identifies the suspect in a shooting at Napoli's Pizza as 33-year-old Alphonso Moore. Moore is facing felony charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and destroying/tampering with physical evidence. He's in the Volusia County Jail being held on no bond.

UPDATE: The DBPD has a suspect in custody in relation to this incident. They found him at an apartment building located at 828 N. Grandview Avenue. A search warrant is being executed for Apartment 4.

Daytona Beach, FL - Officers say one person was shot inside a vehicle parked near a beachside pizza shop on Atlantic Avenue.

The report from Daytona Beach police says that the call went out just before 3:30 this afternoon (July 1st) with reports saying someone was shot at Napoli's Pizza off of North Atlantic.

First responders found a man shot in the abdomen inside of a vehicle parked near the store.

According to DBPD, that victim, who has yet to be identified, has since been rushed to Halifax Health Medical Center, where he's currently undergoing surgery.

Police say a woman was also with the man when police arrived. She wasn't hurt and they're not sure what her exact role was in the incident.

It's also not clear as to where the shooting took place or who the suspect may be.

However, initial reports describe the shooter as a black male with short hair, possibly in his 20's, with a black t-shirt and denim shorts.

DBPD is actively searching for the subject and is working the case still.

Units will be in the area where the victim was discovered for the next few hours as they process evidence.
