Daytona Beach, FL - Police in Daytona are looking for the man that violently carjacked a woman after asking her for a ride.

It was on Sunday, June 11, when the victim was approached by a man at the Walmart at 1101 Beville Rd. He asked the woman for a ride to his cousin's apartment complex, Andros Isles, near I-4 and I-95. Once the man offered her $20, she agreed. When the pair arrived at the complex they couldn't find the man's cousin, who he said would be waiting for them outside.

They drove around the complex looking for the man's cousin, then he told the woman to stop, implying he was going to get out of the vehicle. Once the vehicle came to a stand still, the man leaned over the woman to open the driver side door and tried to push her out of the vehicle. A fight ensued and the woman was hit in the face. She bit the man in self-defense then the man climbed over the center console and into the driver seat and pushed the woman completely out of the vehicle. He then got out and punched her in the face before getting back in the vehicle and fleeing from the scene.

The victim ran to the car that was behind her and called 911 from the witness's phone.

The suspect has been described as a black man in his 20s with a short haircut and no facial hair. At the time of the carjacking he was wearing camouflage shorts, a dark shirt (possibly gray), and he had a white/red shirt hanging around his neck. He is about 5'6" or 5'7" and of a thin build.

The witness saw the entire fight inside the vehicle and confirmed to police that the victim was pushed from the vehicle and punched in the face. The witness also said she saw the suspect get back into the vehicle and flee the scene at a high rate of speed.

Police say the victim had several visible injuries to her face and body but refused to be brought to a hospital.

Shortly after the suspect fled the scene the stolen vehicle was involved in a crash at Thames and Williamson. There were no injuries in the crash, but, again, the suspect fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.

The stolen vehicle is a gray 2008 Mazda 6 4D with the FL tag HQUN74. According to the victim, there was about $3,657 worth of merchandise in the stolen Mazda, including about $2,000 worth of clothes, an iPhone, and hundreds of dollars worth of medication.
