UPDATE (August 16): DBPD Public Information Officer Messod Bendayan reports that Torrey Sloss was arrested this morning (August 16) around 1:30 a.m. on International Speedway Boulevard just south of Nova Road. His bond was set at $12,500. Sloss is no longer in custody.

Daytona Beach, FL - Daytona Beach Police are looking for 42-year-old Torrey Sloss in connection with a shooting that took place yesterday (August 14) morning on U.S. 1 near Country Club Oval.

DBPD Public Information Officer Messod Bendayan said Sloss and the victim were arguing over remote-controlled cars when he pulled a gun and shot through the passenger-side window of the car the victim was in. The window shattered, causing cuts to the victim's face and chest.

It started with Sloss blocking the vehicle that the victim and two other people were in with his own car at a stop sign on Country Club Oval. The witnesses and the victim report that Sloss came around to the passenger side, reached his hand through the open window and hit the victim. He then pulled the gun and threatened to 'off' the victim. Detectives think that's when the gun fired, with the round going through the car window, injuring the victim.

Sloss then got into his vehicle and left the area. The victim was taken to AdventHealth Daytona for treatment of his injuries. the other two people were not injured. All three of them identified Sloss in a photo lineup as the shooter.

Anyone with information on Sloss or his whereabouts is asked to contact the Daytona Beach Police Department.
