Daytona Beach, FL - The police department of Daytona Beach has an offer for people looking to surrender a firearm, no questions asked.
But it has to be real and it has to be unloaded.
But, once the gun is handed in, Messod Bendayan, the Public Information Officer with Daytona Beach police, says that whoever gave the firearm over will get a $50 gift card in return.
"It's mostly aimed at the Midtown precinct, but it is city wide," said Bendayan.
For those bringing a weapon, Daytona Beach police ask that you bring the weapon completely unloaded and safely secured in a container.
If you cannot unload the weapon, police ask that you leave the weapon in your car, let the officers know you cannot unload the weapon and an officer will retrieve the weapon for you.
The event will be run from their Midtown precinct off of Orange Avenue near Tuscawilla Park from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday (June 27th).
And that's not all Daytona Beach police has going on that day.
Later that night, beginning at 5:30, DBPD will be hosting a spaghetti fundraiser at their headquarters found off of Mason Avenue (Valor Blvd) for Officer Nick Gurucharri, who was recently diagnosed with Stage III cancer.
