Daytona Beach, FL - As a reaction to gun violence in the city of Daytona Beach, the Police Department is asking residents to join in on the "Peace for Our Streets" community prayer vigil this evening at the John H. Dickerson Community Center.
During the last two weeks of November, three separate incidents took the lives of three men:
On November 29, what appears to be a murder-suicide took place between a man and wife at Daytona Beach Health & Rehabilitation. On November 30, DBPD found two people dead, also an apparent murder-suicide, in a car on Lockhart Street.
It's now December and two young men, both 21-years-of-age, are dead. One man shot the other several times. The shooter was still on scene when police officers arrived on the scene. He ran and shot at police when they approached him. Officers returned fire, resulting in his death.
Tonight's event begins at 6 p.m. The John H. Dickerson Community Center is located at 308 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Drive in Daytona Beach.
