Daytona Beach, FL – The man wanted for wounding another man while shooting into a moving vehicle in broad daylight near the Bethune-Cookman University campus earlier this month is now in custody.

Earlier today (August 21st), the Daytona Beach Police Department announced the arrests of Ronald Denson (left) and Annamarie Sorrentino (right) in that August 8th incident in the parking lot of Bethune Village Market on 835 Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard.

“This was a great job today by the Daytona Beach Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service to remove a violent felon from our streets,” said DBPD Chief Craig Capri. “This street thug will no longer be able to commit violent crimes in our community.”

Investigators found the couple at the Sunshine Inn on Ridgewood Avenue in Daytona Beach just before noon today thanks to a Crime Stoppers tip, according to DBPD spokesperson Lyda Longa.

“Additionally, the firearm used by Denson in the incident has been recovered,” Longa added.

Neither one has been booked at Volusia County Jail, but that’s expected to happen later today.

The 26-year-old Denson is facing numerous charges, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Sorrentino – identified by DBPD as Denson’s girlfriend – is charged with principal to aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Capri says she’s the woman who drove Denson away from the market after the shooting and also handed Denson the AR-15 style rifle he used to shoot 25-year-old Kelvin Holt.

Holt – the driver of the red car seen in the security video above – needed surgery for wounds to his arm and stomach, but he is expected to make a full recovery.

Investigators are still trying to establish motive, but Denson hasn’t spoken to DBPD since his arrest, according to Capri.

Denson is also a suspect in several other shootings in Daytona Beach and investigators are trying to tie him to those.
